The Five Town CSD, which oversees Camden Hills Regional High School, invites the community to join in its Winter Community Book Read, Future Wise: Educating Our Children for a Changing World, by David N. Perkins.

The community book read is a way for parents and other community members to engage with administrators and school board members in a deep discussion about education.

Future Wise explores a brand-new framework for thinking about education and how to teach big understandings and the ideas that matter most.

The book read will culminate in a group discussion on March 13, 2018, from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Camden Hills Regional High School Wave Cafe.

The community is invited to either actively participate in the conversation or simply attend and listen if preferred. You are encouraged to take a friend and make a night of it. Childcare and snacks will be provided.

Future Wise explores a brand-new framework for thinking about education and how to teach big understandings and the ideas that matter most.

Everyone has an opinion about education, and teachers face pressures from Common Core content standards, high-stakes testing, and countless other directions. But how do we know what today's learners will really need to know in the future? Future Wise: Educating Our Children for a Changing World is a toolkit for approaching that question with new insight.

Copies of Future Wise are available to borrow at Camden Hills Regional High School, and at public libraries in the five town communities of Appleton, Camden, Hope, Lincolnville and Rockport.
