BELFAST — As summer in the Midcoast winds to an end, so too do the many summer events that have become ubiquitous with the region's summer season.

Last weekend brought the fifth annual Harbor Fest, a multi-day event sponsored by the Belfast Rotary with something for everyone.

Events included the Come Boating Regatta, where rowing teams competed in a 3.6 mile race in Belfast's bay. This year's regatta didn't disappoint, drawing spectators to line the Boathouse railing in order to secure a good view of the finish.

While the regatta enjoyed cooperative weather while providing entertainment for those in the mood for conventional competition, those with something sillier in mind only had to wait a day for their chance to shine, albeit in the rain.

The cardboard boat race challenged builders to "fire up [their] creativity" by creating boats with materials limited to cardboard and creativity that were then raced in in the waters near the Boathouse.

The Belfast Bay Fiddlers played for visitors looking to take a moment to relax in the company of sea-breezes and traditional fiddle music. There was also a bounce-house and tent offering to paint the faces of inspired attendants, food trucks, a bicycle raffle and more.

The Belfast Harbor Fest is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Belfast, who use the funds raised to support charitable projects undertaken by the Club. Some of these projects include scholarships for local high school students, donations to local food pantries and providing clothes and toys for 100 children in need every Christmas, among others.
