Falcons fall to Cobras, back to losing record at season’s mid-point

KNOX — After taking a week off for a bye week, the Midcoast Falcons hosted, and fell 27-20 to, the Notre Dame Cobras at Larrabee Field in Knox, Aug. 24. 

The Falcons are 2-3 at the regular season’s mid-point. 

The Falcons play in the New England Football League’s Maine Division, in the Maritime Conference, alongside the Notre Dame Cobras (Alfred, Maine), New Hampshire Timberwolves (Machester, N.H.), Port City Vipers (Portsmouth, N.H.) and Twin City Riot (Hampden, Maine). 

Recently, the Falcons bested the Vipers 13-9 Aug. 10. Prior to that, the Falcons fell to the Cobras 33-0 July 19 and the Timberwolves 25-0 July 26, while besting the Riot 22-6 Aug. 3. 

Details were not available for the Falcons-Cobras contest. 

Falcons’ home contests are played at Larrabee Field in Knox. 

The Falcons (2-3) are tied for third place with the Vipers. The Cobras, who are undefeated, are in first place with a 5-0 record, the Timberwolves (3-2) are second and the Riot (0-4) are in fifth.

Sept. 14 – at New Hampshire Timberwolves – Manchester West High School (Manchester, N.H.) – Noon
Sept. 20 – at Twin City Riot – Hampden Academy (Hampden) – 1 p.m.
Sept. 28 – vs. Port City Vipers – Larrabee Field (Knox) – 1 p.m.
Oct. 4 or 5 – First Playoff Game – TBA

Admission into home games is $5. Senior citizens and military members are free.
