Estelle Carr. obituary

CAMDEN — Estelle Julia Carr, 73, of Camden, died June 26, 2014, at Anderson Inn in Camden. Born in Brooks on Dec. 14, 1940, she was the daughter of Richard G. and Hazel (Cookson) Carr. She was a 1959 graduate of Camden High School and as a young adult worked with her father operating Carr's Taxi Service in Camden.

Her other employment included working as a housekeeper for large hotels in Florida and Arizona. In her later years, Estelle spent summers in Camden and the winter months in Florida. In 1988, she moved permanently to Maine as her mother's devoted caregiver. Estelle enjoyed collecting Thomas Kincaide lighthouses, horse figurines and working with jig saw puzzles.

The Carr family wishes to express their gratitude to the many caregivers at Quarry Hill for their compassionate care during Estelle's stay at Anderson Inn.

Surviving are her brothers, Frank Carr of Camden, and Jerry Carr and his wife, Faye, of Union; her niece, Callie Barrfield of Belfast; her great-nieces, Casie Knudsen, Victoria Noble and her husband, William; her great-nephews, Liam Noble and Steven Carr; and her cousins, Donald Cookson and his wife, Susan, of Atkinson, Janice Durham of Augusta and Lois Silloway of Warren. Estelle is also survived by her life-long best friend, Fran Hart of Rockville.

In keeping with her wishes, services and interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
