STOCKTON SPRINGS — Enlow V. "Eddie" Minick, 97 of Stockton Springs, passed away on March 9, 2017, in Belfast. He was born May 25, 1919, in Frostburg, Md., the son of Vincent and Evelyn (Ravenscroft) Minick.

Eddie quit school in the eighth-grade to go to work. In his teen years he worked at a celery farm and as part of the Civilian Conservation Corp. at Yellowstone National Park. He was a cake decorator in a bakery and played in a country-western band on the radio in Asheville, N.C., all before enlisting in the Army in 1941. Eddie served in the military as a mechanic and drove a tank destroyer during World War II until his discharge in 1945.

In July of 1943, he married Helen Kozak and after his discharge from the military, they settled in Reading, Pa., and started their family. Eddie worked at Reading Hosiery, in automotive parts and then at Rockwell Company as a tool grinder until 1981 when he retired. In retirement, he and Helen enjoyed their time with family and friends and trips with their senior groups. In his spare time, he also enjoyed going to the Kenhorst Fire Company in Reading. Eddie loved tinkering with small gadgets and anything battery operated, as well as being a loyal NASCAR fan. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

He was predeceased by both parents; two brothers; and one sister. Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Helen of Stockton Springs; his daughter, Kathleen Kamzelski of Stockton Springs; his grandchildren, Tanya Blanchard and her husband, Tom, of Thorndike, and Kevin Kamzelski and his wife, Starla, of Boyertown, Pa.; nine great-grandchildren; one great-son-in-law; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Interment will be held Friday, March 17, at 10 a.m. at Gethsemane Mausoleum in Laureldale, Pa. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 21, at 2 p.m. at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave. in Belfast.
