ROCKLAND — Emilia A. Robert, 83, died peacefully March 8, 2015, with her special friend, Ann Meklin, and nurse Allison McNeal at her side, following a period of declining health, at the Sussman House in Rockport.

Born in Astoria, Queens, N.Y., on May 23, 1931, she was the daughter of Thomas and Anna Tapetti Cantore. Along with her sister, Delores, Emilia attended public and parochial school and made First Holy Communion at Immaculate Conception RC Church. She graduated from Julia Richman High School in Astoria, Queens, and later attended a two-year business college in the city.

Emilia began her employment with Pan American Airlines. Here she met her future husband and soul mate, Guenther Robert, who was employed with KLM Airlines. The pair were married in November of 1969 in Forest Hills, N.Y. Together they moved to Rockland from Bristol, R.I., in 2005.

Growing up in a home filled with music, Emilia played piano from an early age. She also enjoyed ballet and tap lessons.

Most recently she volunteered for many years at the Farnsworth Art Museum. She was also an active member of St. Brendan the Navigator Parish.

Predeceased by her beloved husband in 2012; Emilia is survived by her friend, Ann Meklin and her husband, Bruce, and their family of Thomaston; as well as many friends.

A celebration of life will be held Thursday, March 19 at 11 a.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland. Interment at Coughlin Memorial Cemetery will take place in the spring.
