Eleanor Morin Mills, obituary

CUSHING — Eleanor Morin Mills, 79, died peacefully at her home Saturday, December 3, 2016, after a period of declining health.

Born in Searsport, August 11, 1937, she was the daughter of Lincoln W. and Emma Meekins Grindle. She was educated in local schools.

Ellie lived in Camden several years before moving to Hartford, Connecticut, where she lived until returning to the Midcoast.

While living in Hartford, she worked several years as a medical records clerk.

Ellie’s happiest years were spent with her soulmate Larry Mills at his South Thomaston home. She enjoyed hunting, camping, the outdoors and gardening. Sewing was a favorite pastime, and in conjunction with that skill, she made handcrafts which she sold at local craft fairs.

Since moving to Cushing, she has been active in the Broad Cove Community Church, where she enjoyed many friendships. She enjoyed the friendship of her neighbors and volunteering at Good Tern Co-Op in Rockland.

Other than her parents, Ellie was predeceased by her beloved Lawrence Mills, as well as recently two of her sisters, Beatrice Bickford and Barbara Shute. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Ellie’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday January 7, at Broad Cove Church, Cushing. The Reverend Karen Pierce will officiate.
