ORLAND — Duane Wardwell, 72, of Orland, died June 2, 2017, with his wife and three children by his side. Duane was a member of the 20th Maine Civil War reenactors.

He ran a backhoe for Wardwell Construction and worked for Babe Williams, and in his retirement worked at Penobscot Narrows Observatory.

He is survived by his wife, Judy, of nearly 52 years; his children, Jessica and her husband, John Ladd, Duane "DB" and his wife, Debbie Wardwell, and Natasha and her husband, Andy Breda; his grandchildren, Jan, Nichole, Joseph and his fiance, Hope King, Katie and her friend, Matt, and Braylee and Nickolas; his great-grandchildren, Colin, Natalie, Brody and Brandon; and his special poodle, Miss Daisy. He is also survived by his brother, Raymond; and his sisters, Gail and Elizabeth Wight.

Sincere thanks to EMMC staff, Dr. Duvefelt and staff at BRHC and caregivers, his neighbor Bill, family, friends, coworkers, and special thanks to Gene, Joey and to his favorite nephew.

Please join the family in a celebration of his life at Fort Knox on Saturday, June 10, at 1 p.m. BYOB, LOL.

Arrangements are under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine.
