LINCOLNVILLE — Josh Gerritsen will present a free program on drones and aerial photography on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Lincolnville Community Library.

Gerritsen will show two short films he made, one of Camden and another of his farm in Lincolnville, using his remotely controlled drone, or quadcopter. He will also demonstrate how the quadcopter works by flying it outside and projecting the aerial images on the screen inside the library.

Gerritsen said drones like his can be used for everything from spotting problems with plants on farmland to finding people who are lost or tracking athletes in marathons. The most important thing for individual operators, he says, is to get the proper training and use the machine responsibly.

Gerritsen was born in Hawaii and moved to Camden when he was 6 years old. He graduated from Camden Hills Regional High School in Rockport and earned his bachelor’s degree from Skidmore College in New York. After spending five years in New York City working as a commercial photographer, he decided to return to Maine, where he now runs Donkey Universe Farm in Lincolnville and has his own photography business.

The library is located at 208 Main St. in Lincolnville Center. For more information, call 763-4343 or email lincolnvillelibrary@tidewater.net.
