ROCKLAND – A driver involved in a one-vehicle car accident outside the Goodwill in Rockland was subsequently transferred by LifeFlight to a higher-care facility Saturday morning.

At 7:09 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 9, Knox Regional Communications Center received a call that a car had hit a utility pole on Camden Street, just outside Goodwill, 202 Camden Street.

Five Fire/EMS personnel responded to the scene, along with members of the police department, according to a report by Rockland Fire Chief Chris Whytock.

Members of Rockland Rescue 3, as first medical responders on scene, found the front of the car against a tree, along with moderate damage to the front passenger side. The soul occupant was sitting outside of the car, having self-extricated, and was waiting for responders at a safe distance from the pole and overhead wires.

The 911 call was made by one of two male Good Samaritans who arrived on scene immediately following the crash and stayed with her until more help arrived.

EMS transported the woman to Pen Bay Medical Center.

The damaged pole is owned by FairPoint Communications. The company replaced it due to the heavy damage, according to the report.
