WALDO — Dorothy J. Tower passed away June 26, 2014, at her home in Waldo with her daughters at her side . She was born July 20, 1931, in Franklin, Ohio, the daughter of George and Lucy ( Hollingsworth ) Allmyer.

She graduated from Franklin High School in Ohio in 1950, and then met and married John E. Tower, from Belfast. During their married life in Ohio, they had four daughters. Dorothy moved to Maine in 1959 with her children and husband to live and raise her family. She was a very loving, unselfish and dedicated mother, who always put her children first, and will forever be loved and never forgotten by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Our mother was a very hard-working and dedicated employee of several retail stores in the area, the last one being Reny's Department Store in Belfast .

Dorothy was predeceased by her parents; her husband; her daughters, Beverly LeSan and Carol Tower; and her brother, George Allmyer. She is survived by her daughters, June McCormick of Gouldsboro, and Kathy Larrabee and her husband, Owen, of Brooks; her grandchildren, John Cox of Troy, Chelly McCormick of Hancock, Greg Tower and Brandi of Lincolnville, and Katie (Cox) Bagley her husband, Tony, of Searsport, and Lori Tower and Amy Tower of Belfast; her great-grandchildren, Jacob, Cameron, Ryker, Drew, Olivia, Baileigh, Faith and Frankie; her sister, Anna Mae Toole of Middletown, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

There will be a graveside service Wednesday, July 9 at 4 p.m. at the family plot in Grove Cemetery in Belfast with the Rev. Richard Reynolds officiating.
