ROCKLAND — Dorothy Isabelle Stevens, 92, died peacefully May 4, 2015, with her loving daughters at her side, in Fleming Island, Fla.

Born June 29, 1922, in Crystal, Maine, she was the daughter of Otis and Lizzie Dwyer Fogg. Educated locally, she was a 1941 graduate of Rockland High School.

Following high school, Dorothy married Robert A. Stevens Jr. in Belfast. Together they made their home in Rockland all of their married lives, except for a brief time, from 1983 to 1988, when they resided in Ash Point in Owls Head.

She was a devoted mother, always active in the lives of her three daughters. From 1959 to 1963, Dot worked summers at Dorman's Dairy Dream in Thomaston. For a brief time she enjoyed serving as a guide at the Farnsworth Art Museum. In 1972 she opened Mrs. Stevens Nursery School at her Beech Street home. She greatly enjoyed the children and operated for more than 14 years.

She was an active member of the Rockland Congregational Church and for many years taught Sunday school, maintained the Abiding Memorial Fund and served as a deaconess. She began when the church was located on Main Street, and continued at the new location on Limerock Street. Dorothy also participated in the Tuesday Luncheon Group.

Most recently Dorothy has resided at Bartlett Woods in Rockland. She was very happy there and took great joy in the many friendships she fostered with staff and residents alike. When her health began to fail, Dorothy moved to Florida to be close to her daughter, Patricia. It was Patricia's excellent and loving care that allowed Dorothy to stay in her home, and experience many more happy months. Her family said they could not have asked for more. Dorothy's sweet smile and loving nature will be greatly missed by all who knew here.

Predeceased by her husband; a daughter, Anne; a brother, Ralph Fogg; her brothers-in-law, Garfield Belyea and Stuart Ames; a sister-in-law, Celia Fogg; and a son-in-law, James H. Gompper; Dorothy is survived by her sisters, Pheneta Belyea, Doris Ames, and Madonana Clark and her husband, Alton; a brother, Ray Fogg; her daughters, Patricia J.
