ROCKLAND — Dorothy I. Small, 97, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2017, at Knox Center for Long Term Care, after a period of declining health. She was born in London, England, to William and Esther Sykes Sulman.

Dorothy met her future husband, Harold "Bud" Small, while he was stationed in Oxford serving with the United States Army Air Core. They married in 1944 and moved to Rockland in 1946.

Dorothy was a private person; devoted to her family and close friends. She loved to sew, garden, read, and enjoyed the company of all animals and especially her kitties. She will be sadly missed by all who loved her.

Predeceased by her husband in 1996, Dorothy is survived by her sons, Gary Small and his wife, Millie, of Alabama, Stephen Small and his wife, Marisa, of Rockland, and Craig Small and his wife, Suzanne Johnson, of Brunswick; her daughter, Deborah Small and her husband, Bryant Kuby, of Belfast; her grandchildren, Brian Small and his wife, Angela, Heather Small Lien and her husband, Scott Lien, Alex Small, Madelyn Small, Grace Small and Nadia Small; and her great-grandchildren, Olivia Lien, Henry Lien, Adele Small and Cameron Small.

A private remembrance will be held in the summer.
