ST. GEORGE — Doris M. Daniello, 85, died April 3, 2013, at Country Manor Nursing Home in Coopers Mills, after a long illness.

Born in Rockland Feb. 17, 1928, she was the daughter of Dewey G. and Clara Hastings Curtis. She attended Rockland Schools.

Feb. 2, 1945, she married Mont T. Daniello in Rockland. The made their home in Rockland, where they raised their family. Following her husband's death in 1959, Mrs. Daniello worked at various jobs to support her family, including raking blueberries, working in the area's fish processing plants and at Peoples Laundry, while raising her eight children.

During the mid-1970s, she moved to East Boston and Chelsea, Mass., where she resided for 12 years. Returning to Maine, she lived three years in Portland, and in 1992 moved to Rockland. In 1997 she moved to St. George, where she lived several years.

A devoted mother and grandmother, Mrs. Daniello survived two diagnoses of cancer. She was considered a hero by all who knew and loved her, for the tenacity with which she fought throughout her entire life.

Other than her parents and husband, Mrs. Daniello was predeceased by one son, Mont T. Daniello Jr. in 2005; two daughters, Patricia A. Daniello in 2000 and Bonnie S. Daniello in 2005; two brothers, Harvey Curtis Sr. and Albert Curtis Sr.; and one sister, Addie Scarper. She is survived by one son, William R. Daniello of Palermo; four daughters, Evelyn M. Daniello and Linda D. Pinaka, both of Sanford, Debra L. Warren of Vermont, and Cindy A. Colson and her husband, Terry, of Thomaston; three brothers, Wendell Curtis of Rockland, George Curtis of Belfast and William Curtis of North Carolina; two sisters, Ella Rezendes and Clara Arujo of Fall River, Mass.; 26 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, April 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland. A committal service will be held Thursday, April 11 at 10 a.m. at Achorn Cemetery on Old County Road in Rockland.
