Dora C. ‘Dodie’ Doak, obituary

WALDO — Dora C. "Dodie" Doak, 87, passed away peacefully on Sept. 4, 2016, at her beloved farm, surrounded by her family. She was born Aug. 20, 1929, in Troy, to James and Beulah Clifford.

Dodie married James E. Doak of Belfast on March 20, 1948, and settled in Waldo to raise their family.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1998; and in 2015 by her youngest son, James E. "Chip" Doak Jr. She is survived by her son, David Doak and his wife, Bernys, of Monroe; and by her daughters, Rebecca Piel and her husband, Thomas, of Belfast, Camilla Doak of Bangor, and Susan Smith and her husband, Keryn, of Surry. She was very proud of her grandchildren, Karla, William, Nicholas, Rebecca, Amanda, Sarah, Amy, Jessica and Emily. She was also very proud of her great-grandchildren, Kristina, Olivia, Aiden, Ryan, Penelope, Dakota, Stefan, Elena and Lyla. She is also survived by a brother, Charles Clifford and his wife, Mildred, of Troy.

"Ma's" passions were decorating her home, tending her beautiful gardens, reading, keeping up on politics, and shopping trips with her daughters. She loved spending time with her family and planning family holiday get-togethers, and especially enjoyed hosting the recent wedding of her grandson on the farm.

Her entire family's hearts are breaking over the loss of our beloved "Ma Doak."

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 2:30 p.m. at the First Church in Belfast UCC, 8 Court St. in Belfast. Interment will follow at Head of Tide Cemetery on Doak Road in Belfast. Friends and family are invited to attend a reception at the family farm, 698 East Waldo Road in Waldo, immediately following the burial.
