ROCKVILLE — Donald M. Frye Sr., 83, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2017, at home.

Donald was born in Rockland on May 24, 1933, to William and Agatha (Towle) Frye. After attending Rockport schools he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. During that period he spent time in Germany. Upon his return to the States, Donald met his wife, Alice Kinney, in March 1957 at a dance at Simonton's Corner Hall and they were married later that year. Both being lovers of music and dancing, they attended many community dances over the years.

Donald acquired his Master Electrician license and worked for 45 years as a self-employed electrician, which included several years working for Camden-Rockport schools.

He was an active member of American Legion Post 30 in Camden for more than 40 years, serving as adjutant and commander as well as Memorial Day organizer and participant. Over the years Donald volunteered his time to different organizations, including Sports Boosters and playing Santa. In addition to his work, Donald spent countless hours fixing clocks, and building/repairing his Cushman and tractors.

Donald and Alice returned to Rockport in 1987, when he built a home just up the street from where he grew up. It would be the home he lived in until his passing. A delight to be around, Donald had a great sense of humor and many stories to tell and he will be greatly missed.

Donald was predeceased by his son, Donald Jr., who passed in 1996; his sisters, Colleen Roberts and Florence Fossett; and two brothers, William Frye Jr. and Lawrence Frye. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Alice; his daughters, Nancy Keller and her husband, Clarence, of Hope, Susan Berry and her husband, Tom, of Billerica, Mass., and Kathryn Frye of Rockport; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Trisha Cochran and her husband, Isaiah, and their son, Nolan, of Union, Jonathan Keller of Hope, Kristin Weed and her husband, AJ, of Lincolnville, and Kyle Berry of Billerica, Mass.; two sisters, Irene Eaton of Camden and Jean Jones of Rockport; as well as a sister-in-law, Esther Frye; and a brother-in-law, Bill Fossett.
