BRUNSWICK — Donald James Cassidy, 76, died peacefully on April 16, 2017, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, with his entire family at his side.

Born in Rockland on June 7, 1940, he was the son of Albert L. and Florence W. Ames Cassidy. He attended local schools.

On Jan. 29, 1960, he married his high school sweetheart, Lorraine Robinson, in Rockland.

For 30 years, he worked as a route salesman with J.J. Nissan's Baking. He was transferred to Bath in 1972, where he and his wife raised their four children. He retired in 1999.

After a few years of traveling, he worked 12 years at Cahill Tire Service in Bath. He loved working at Cahills, where he made many friends and enjoyed talking with the customers.

Donald loved camping with his wife, as well as hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by three brothers, LeRoy, John and Richard. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lorraine of Brunswick; four children, Tina M. Black and her husband, Eric, of Woolwich, Kelly L. Kingsbury and her husband, Lewis, of Pittston, Scott J. Cassidy of Bath, and Steven J. Cassidy and his wife, Tracy, of Brunswick; a sister, Delores “Dolly” McLain and her husband, George, of Thomaston; two grandchildren, Garrett Cassidy and Jessica Ibrahim; five great-grandchildren, Evan Jensen, Hakeem Ibrahim, Lexie Cassidy, Reed Reno and Libbi Wallace; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 7, at 11 a.m. at Seaview Cemetery on Waldo Avenue in Rockland. The Rev. Wayne Sawyer will officiate.
