Doiron and Lindquist to provide insider's scoop at writing workshop Nov. 29
On Thursday, November 29, the husband-and-wife team of Paul Doiron and Kristen Lindquist will talk about the steps and processes involved in getting one's writing published. Topics covered will include the details of Doiron's long process of writing his first novel, finding an agent, and landing a book contract, as well as the world of publicity, book tours, and balancing a writing career with the rest of one's life. Doiron will also offer advice, as an editor, on how to get published as a freelance writer. The class will take place at 6 p.m. at Camden Hills Regional High School.
Both Doiron and Linquist are accomplished writers, having published numerous books of fiction and poetry between them. Paul has published a series of mysteries with St. Martin's Press and is the editor-in-chief of Down East Magazine, and Kristen is an award-winning poet who has had her poems read by Garrison Keillor on National Public Radio's "The Writer's Almanac."
This class is the final session in a series of one-night workshops, called "The Journey to Publication," being offered by Five Town CSD Adult and Community Education to help provide aspiring writers with advice for getting their work published. Each session features a variety of local authors who have been published in various ways and in several genres and will be full of tips and hints.
