Peace and Justice Group of Waldo County presents

Documentary film showing: ‘Climate Justice Stories’

Spring Equinox Pot Luck and Community Forum

The Peace and Justice Group of Waldo County will be showing the timely and inspiring documentary Climate Justice Stories in the Abbott Room at the Belfast Free Library on Wednesday, June 21, at 6 p.m. as part of the group's Spring Equinox Pot Luck and Community Forum . The pot luck and celebration of Spring will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the film.

In Climate Justice Stories, 13 Maine people of diverse ages, cultures and gender identities passionately share their experiences and wisdom addressing climate injustices. Some challenge institutions and their own communities to say "no" to fossil fuels expansion. Some embrace their ancestors' and present day struggles for land and water sovereignty. Some create a model for fossil fuel-free living. All share their courage, hope and determination to continue to work on the global climate change crisis. These stories have the "power to change hearts and inspire bold actions and solutions," said Maine filmmaker Anne D. Burt on her website, Down to Earth Story Telling Project. Burt will be at the gathering to answer questions and discuss how to use these stories in schools and communities to inspire us all to continue this critical work.

Come share your own stories, good food and courage. Bring a dish to share and participate in a "dessert fundraiser" for the Peace and Justice Group. Desserts will be available for a donation, to help sustain the P&J Community Forums.
