WARREN – David A. George, 53, died unexpectedly on Sept. 5, 2016, at his home.

Born in Rockland on Oct. 17, 1962, he was the son of Fred and Dale Messer George. Educated locally, Dave was a 1981 graduate of Medomak Valley High School. Following graduation, Dave attended the University of Maine at Orono before transferring to community college.

Always active, Dave loved to be outdoors. He took great joy in fishing, dirt bike riding, and four-wheeling. He was a talented mechanic, always working on his own vehicles and helping friends and neighbors with their vehicles. He also enjoyed working on cars at Wiscasset Speedway. Dave was known as a great conversationalist, and could talk to anyone he met, making friends everywhere he went.

He was civic minded and enjoyed several terms as a member of the Warren Planning Board and Zoning Committee.

His number one priority in life was his children. He would do anything for them and they always knew how much they were loved. He will be sadly missed.

Predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Mark S. George; David is survived by his son, Erik D. George; and his daughter, Graci M. George, both of Union; his sister, Rhonda G. Stitt and her husband, Gary, of Randolph, N.H.; his brothers, Gregory W. George and his wife, Julie, of Windham, N.H., and Christopher M. George of Lewiston; his sister, Anita E. George and her partner, Faye Welsh, of Auburn; several nieces and nephews; a special aunt, Tobey Lee; the mother of his children, Karen Mitchell of Union; and a step-son, Jared J. Wildes of Scarborough.

A gathering of love and remembrance will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 2 to 4 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge on Route 90 in Warren.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Children of David George Benefit Account at the DB&T Bank, 21 Main Street, Warren, ME 04864.
