ROCKLAND – David R. Bragdon Jr., 27, died unexpectedly Nov. 1, 2014, as a result of a house fire in Portland.

Born in Oak Harbor, Wash., he was the son of David Bragdon Sr. and Pamela Bragdon Rhodus. Moving to Maine as a young child, David was a 2005 graduate of Rockland District High School. He later attended USM in Portland.

During high school, David was an active participant in many theater productions and cheerleading. Skateboarding and music were his passion; and he was considered quite an artist. After he was given a guitar for graduation, he taught himself to play, wrote many compositions and music pieces, and eventually joined a band. He later broke off on his own and performed at many local venues.

In his younger years, David worked with his father in his electrical business. Together they had many happy hours and made many special memories working side by side. Most recently he was employed as a host and prep-cook at the Great Lost Bear in Portland. His family said he loved his job, and the people he got to meet there. They said he never met anyone who disliked him; and was a kind and generous “people person.” David loved to dance and is remembered by his brother as a “wild child.” He lived in the moment and loved to have fun. His passing leaves a huge hole in the hearts of the many people he touched with his vibrant smile, witty personality, and love of life.

Predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Richard and Joan Bragdon; his maternal grandmother, Ryta Kelly; David is survived by his father, David Bragdon Sr. and his partner Tammy Whirty of Rockland; his mother, Pamela Bragdon Rhodus and her fiancée Rob Mosso of Littleton, CO; his brother Kevin Bragdon and his partner Connor Mills of Thomaston; his brother Darryl Wishart; his maternal grandfather, Sean Kelly of Littleton, CO; close family friends, Rickey Deloge and his partner Angela Commeau and his daughter Nastassja, and Kayla Boone; as well as a large extended family and too many friends to count.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of love and remembrance, Saturday, Nov. 8 from 1 to 3p.m., at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the fund to assist with "Celebration of life for David Jr." at http://www.gofundme.com/gnl76w
