Following are this session’s questions.

Dear Daniel:

I have a catering business and I need to have more exposure without it costing a fortune. I am wondering how I could make use of Instagram. I am not a professional photographer. Could you tell me how it works and what type of promotion is possible with Instagram? — Catering

Dear Catering,

Thank you for the question! I truly believe Instagram to be one of the greatest tools for visual promotion of one's business. Instagram is a photo-sharing app that works seamlessly with Android and iPhone to capture those moments you don't wish to let go of. With their no-fooling filter included right after you snap the shot, you can transform even the worst picture you could possibly take, into something that resembles Ansel Adams’s work in his prime. From there, you can "tag" it with friends' or business colleagues' profiles (if they're also on Instagram) to let them know you're thinking of them. You can also let your phone locate you, and include a Foursquare "check-in" for a business' exposure as well. Be sure to include a #hashtag, which we discussed in the last column, which Instagram recognizes the same way, and will include (at no cost) in their "explore" tab under "tags." A few good examples of hashtags for catering would be #catering, #foodie, #foodporn and last but not least, #foodgasm. These might not seem appropriate for your business, but hopefully you get the idea. I hope I've answered your question, and keep moving forward!

Dear Daniel:

I want to give my mother a computer for Mother's Day. I know she will be a bit nervous but I will be able to teach her a few things while visiting her. Mostly I want her to be able to use email so she can see family photos as she lives out of state. Do you think a tablet may be a better option? I do think once she starts playing around she may want to play games on it. She loves canasta. What are the best brands at a reasonable price that have a fast learning curve. :-) — Tablet Hunter

Dear Tablet Hunter,

There's a fine line between tablets at the moment. You're either a fan of Apple (and their iPad line) or you're an Android lover, and can't get away from Google's extensive product line. I've had the chance to tinker with both, and it's really a matter of personal choice. Something to look into before you make a final purchase might be your mother's favorite canasta game, and which platform has the best version. Maybe the iPad has a better variety of choices for the game itself, but the Android has something that you can show her how to access from her desktop of laptop PC? Which leads us into another factor you might consider, if she has (or has had) a Windows computer or an Apple computer in the past? Obviously, with the answer to that question, a choice might be to follow that same idea. Any way she chooses, the game will be much easier to play, and she'll have hours of fun, and can use it anywhere she goes. Thank you for the question. Keep moving forward!

In other news ~Hooray for updates!

How many of you on Facebook have been "lucky" enough to receive the new look Facebook has been granting to what seems like a select number of thousands of people per day?

You are either very happy OR very confused.

Have no fear, your questions about this new update are welcome! Feel free to reply to my columns, my email address is below.

Android News: I for one am drooling over the latest release of Android's smart watches. I have yet to try one on for size, but I can only imagine that they will bring with them a whole new set of laws, guidelines and of course "life hacks" that make technology so fun — and somewhat confusing to follow.
