BELFAST and ISLESBORO — Cynthia L. Percy, of Belfast, passed away in Islesboro on June 6, 2017. She was born April 6, 1941, in Islesboro, the daughter of Gertrude McLaughlin Leach and Fernald J. Leach.

Cynthia enjoyed doing a variety of arts and crafts throughout her life. With her late husband, she enjoyed making and painting Christmas presents for friends and family. She also loved to sew and make quilts. Later on, Cynthia enjoyed knitting and doing puzzles as well as playing with and spoiling her beloved dachshund, Blackie, who has since crossed that Rainbow Bridge. She missed him terribly. She enjoyed going to and participating in the local flea markets and met a lot of friends there. She basically just liked to go out and about to talk and laugh with other people to listen to their stories of life. Another one of her passions was gardening, and she took pride in the way she cared for her gardens.

Cynthia was predeceased by her husband, Richard Percy; two sisters, Harriet Parsons and Joan Price; her brother, Harold Leach; her niece, Andrea Sinclair; and her nephew, Dale Price.

Cynthia is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline L. Smith of Islesboro and her partner, Craig; her sisters, Leila Babbidge of Islesboro, Priscilla Sinclair of Belfast, Judy Leach of Islesboro and Sharon Helps of New Hampshire; her brother, Carleton Leach of New Hampshire; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be held June 18 at 11 a.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery in Islesboro.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association or to Boardman Cottage.

Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home.
