ROCKPORT — Midcoast Recreation Center in Rockport hosted the annual Special Olympics at its facility Aug. 20. Across the state, more than 70 athletes participated in events that day.

Locally, athletes from Coastal Opportunities competed in the “Tennis for Fun” program. Volunteers, many of them junior tennis players, helped out.

“We really look forward to the Special Olympics tennis event each year,” said Seth Meyer, tennis director. “We feel fortunate to have the opportunity to serve these athletes and thankful for the great community that surrounds this event and MRC.”

All of the facility and court time is donated by MRC in support of the Special Olympics.
