Congressman Michaud meeting with Midcoast veterans

Tue, 07/01/2014 - 1:00pm

Congressman Mike Michaud (ME-2), Democratic candidate for Maine governor, will meet with veterans and other interested citizens on Monday, July 7 to discuss veterans’ issues. After discussing national veterans’ matters, Congressman Michaud will field veteran-related questions. The hour-long session will be held in Newcastle Community Room at 86 River Road at 4 p.m. The Newcastle Community Room is located within the Newcastle Fire Station.

Michaud is also scheduled to attend an old-fashioned rally and meeting at the Lincoln Theater on Main Street in Damariscotta. The rally will begin at 5 p.m. and will feature live bands and complimentary refreshments. Admission is free and all are welcome to attend.

Michaud is a six-term congressman who serves on two committees in the House of Representatives: the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs (as the ranking member) and Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.

Important note: There is a slight chance Michaud’s bill to address the VA situation will be taken up in Washington on July 7, which would mean he'd return to Washington, D.C. This is an unlikely scenario, but given the evolving situation and the unpredictability of the Congressional schedule precautions must be taken.

If this happens, Michaud will have at least a day or two notice and will contact Representative Mick Devin about the need to reschedule. If you plan to attend please RSVP to Devin (mick@mickdevin.org or 207-975-3132) and he will provide a status of the event on the evening of the July 6.
