ROCKPORT— Coastal Healthcare Alliance, which includes Pen Bay Medical Center (PBMC), Pen Bay Physicians & Associates, Quarry Hill Retirement Community, Knox Center, Waldo County General Hospital (WCGH), Waldo County Medical Partners and Penobscot Shores Retirement Community, has been in preliminary unification discussions with other MaineHealth member organizations. This reorganization, or unification proposal, would create a single, system-wide Board of Trustees for MaineHealth and combined financial structure. It would leave in place local boards that would retain significant responsibility for the hospital services and other care delivered in local communities.

In a series of board votes, MaineHealth members decided that the time was right to engage their communities in this dialogue. Unification Community Forums are being held in all MaineHealth member communities to review the proposed unification and gather feedback from the community.

An additional Knox County Unification Community Forum will take place on Monday, September 18 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Rockland City Hall.

During the forum, the unification proposal will be discussed and there will be an opportunity to engage in a conversation with leaders from PBMC and WCGH. Forums are free and open to the public. Please visit the PBMC (www.pbmc.org) and WCGH (www.wcgh.org) websites for more information.
