SOUTH THOMASTON — Christine L. Watts, 61, died April 17, 2014, surrounded by her family at her home, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Rockland on Feb. 8, 1953, she was the daughter of Floyd G. and Marion R. Lindsey Watts. Growing up in St. George, she was educated in local schools and was a 1971 graduate of Georges Valley High School. She attended the University of Maine, earning a bachelor's degree in nursing.

Her longtime nursing career included many years at Pen Bay Medical Center, and more recently, in management at Midcoast Mental Health Center.

Christine was a member of St. George Historical Society, St. George Grange and Thi Theta Kappa Nursing Honor Society.

Her hobbies included gardening, genealogy, canning, cooking and antiquing.

Predeceased by her mother, Marion; Christine is survived by her father, Floyd Watts of Liberty; her husband, Joseph T. Ogden of South Thomaston; her daughter, Rachel E. Hafer of Denver, Colo.; her two sons, Samuel A. Winchenbach and his wife, Lindsey Gray, of Old Town, and Charles F. Skinner and his companion, Melissa Legare, of Rockland; two sisters, Laurel A. Watts of Lafayette, Colo., and Katheryn J. Watts and her husband, Alan Bryce, of New Hampshire; two brothers, Austin H. Watts and his wife, Helen, of Bowdoinham, and James F. Watts of Brooks; her grandson, Brody F. Hafer; and two stepsons, Joseph P. Ogden and his wife, Jayme, of Mildenhall, England, and Eric R. Ogden and his wife, Jenna, of Winslow; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 22 at 4 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland. The Rev. Wayne Sawyer will officiate.
