Christine ‘Tina’ Allen, obituary

CAMDEN — Christine “Tina” Allen, 65, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Windward Gardens in Camden.  Born in Camden, she was the daughter of Howard and Margaret (Heal) Holbrook and was a 1971 graduate of Camden-Rockport High School.  Tina attended Central Maine Vocational Institute in Waterville where she obtained an associate’s degree in occupational therapy.  

On August 11, 1979, she married Kermit L. Allen.

Tina worked several years at Schoolhouse Togs in Rockland, then at Pen Bay Medical Center for many years where she worked as a certified occupational therapist.   

Tina was talented with many gifts and possessed a strong desire to learn and experience new things.  She was a master gardener, a musician, a singer, quilter, seamstress, artist and a yoga instructor.  Other favorite activities included dancing, swimming, kayaking, and travelling with her friends.

During her illness, Christine was surrounded with her family and friends who extended great encouragement and support.  Especially her Uncle Donald and Aunt Patsie and Uncle Fred and Aunt Dottie and dear friends Dottie and Megan.

Predeceased by her parents, Howard and Margaret Holbrook; husband, Kermit Allen in 2009, she is survived by her beloved dog, Ollie; two children, Suzan Flanagan and her husband, Patrick, of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Steve Allen and his wife, Debbie, of Cape Elizabeth; five grandchildren, Philip and Marissa Flanagan; Jessica, David and Jacob Allen; three sisters, Tracy Watson and her husband, Philip of Hope; Tammy O’Brian of Camden; and Terri Kimball; six nieces and nephews, Jeffrey, Renee, Ashley, Erica, Michael and Philip.

Calling hours will be held 3-5 p.m., Sunday, March 4, 2018 at the Long Funeral Home, 9 Mountain Street, Camden. A memorial gathering to honor Tina’s life and a graveside service will be announced in the spring.  If desired, memorial gifts may be made to: Patrick Dempsey Cancer Center in Lewiston and Harold Alfond Cancer Center at Maine General Hospital in Augusta.
