Celebrate the fruits of summer at Camden’s Laite Beach, Ashwood Waldorf School

Fri, 07/18/2014 - 11:30am

ROCKPORT – Ashwood Waldorf School is celebrating summer with three free events in July and August for children ages 4 to 6 years old, and their families. All events take place from 9 to 10:30 a.m., rain or shine.

• July 19, at Ashwood Waldorf School, children are invited to make (and eat!) strawberry ice cream, hear a story and take a guided walk.

• Aug. 5, at Laite Beach in Camden, children will use fresh ingredients to make (and enjoy!) berry lemonade. They'll hear a tale told by one of Ashwood's early-childhood teachers and have time to play in the park.

• Aug. 20, at Ashwood Waldorf School, blueberries are in the spotlight. Children are invited to help make (and eat!) blueberry pancakes, listen to a story and play circle games.

Ashwood Waldorf School is a pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade learning community offering a rigorous, classical education structured around the stages of human development. Ashwood's early-childhood programs emphasize imaginative play, purposeful movement, and social and artistic activities, all of which are crucial for early development. Ashwood's new forest kindergarten program, the first of its kind in the area, provides a special opportunity for children ages 4-6 to explore nature fully and learn to know it well by spending most of their time outdoors.

All events are free, but please register at least three days before each event. Call 236-8021 or email info@ashwoodwaldorf.org. For more information about Ashwood Waldorf School, visit ashwoodwaldorf.org.
