CAMDEN — Cecilia Lee Perkins, 3-1/2, passed away July 2, 2015, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, due to complications from lymphoma. Born Dec. 6, 2011, in Rockport, she was the daughter of Bernard M. and Amanda (Stanley) Perkins.

During her short life, Cecilia taught us many beautiful lessons by encouraging her family and caregivers to always smile, even when it hurts; to be polite and to love others unconditionally.

Cecilia enjoyed playing with the wonderful hospital staff at the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital, where she spent much of the past year. She also loved spending time with her Aunt Isabelle "Cheeka," Uncle Charlie and her older sister, Elathia. Through helping the doctors and nurses with her treatments, she loved to sing and dance. As a vegan, she was very particular about proper food choices and often took the opportunity to educate others. Her enchanting smile, infectious laugh and bravery all surpassed her size and years, and she touched the lives of all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the many caregivers at the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital for their love and compassion to Cecilia.

Surviving are her parents, Bernard and Amanda Perkins; her sister, Elathia Latterner; her maternal grandparents, Theresa Deane and her partner, Jim Pendleton, and Kevin Stanley, all of Camden; her paternal grandparents, Carl Perkins Jr. of Trenton, and Elizabeth Barer and her partner, Shawn Weed, of Lincolnville; her great-grandparents, Charlie Barter, Gloria and Carl Gomm, Patricia Stanley, and William and Carol Deane; and many aunts, uncles, cousins. She was predeceased by her grandfather, Charles Stanley.

A celebration of Cecilia's short but exceptional life will be held Saturday, July 25 at 1 p.m. at High Mountain Hall, 5 Mountain St. in Camden.
