Casting call for theatre production in Rockport

    ROCKPORT — Youth Arts is sponsoring a performance May 13 at the Strom Theater, at Camden Hills Regional High School. The project is called The March - A New Civil Rights Art Project, and the performance is called Freedom Summer, based on the historical events that led up to and became fact in 1964, in Mississippi.

    Youth Arts is looking for 12 local actors. The "types" of actors that are needed, with race/age/sex indicated are as follows:

    “Wendy” – white female civil rights volunteer (18 years – 25 years)

    “Cynthia” – African American civil rights volunteer (18 years – 26 years)

    "Sam" “Cynthia” – white civil rights volunteer (18 years – 26 years)

    “Dorie” – African American female civil rights activist (22 years – 30 years)

    “Hollis” – African American male civil rights activist (22 years – 30 years)

    “Rita” – white female civil rights activist (22 years – 30 years)

    "Jim" - “Hollis” – African American male civil rights activist (25 years – 35 years)

    “Kristoff” – white male newspaper reporter (25 years – 50 years)

    “Hollis” – African American male civil rights activist (22 years – 30 years)

    "Henry" - white male Justice Department official (25 years - 35 years)

    “Leila” – white female civil rights activist (22 years – 30 years)

    "Fanny" - African American Mississippi civil rights activist (30 years - 50 years)
