CAMDEN — Carol Ann Christie, 80, passed away Aug. 8, 2015, at her home in Camden surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Ellsworth on Feb. 18, 1935, she was the daughter of Arthur and Vernice Falls and was a graduate of Ellsworth High School, Class of 1952. During high school, Carol worked for J.J. Newbury, then later at the Ellsworth Telephone Company as a telephone operator. In 1954, she met and fell in love with Thomas W. Christie, a young man who was serving in the U.S. Navy. They were married April 23, 1955, in Ellsworth.

Traveling throughout the world while Tom was in the Navy, they raised their 11 children. His military career took them to Bremerhaven, Germany, in May of 1955; Ellsworth in 1958; Terceira Island in the Azores in 1958; Skaggs Island, Calif., in 1960; Adak, Alaska in 1962; Pearl City, Hawaii, in 1963; and Winter Harbor in September of 1966. In February of 1971, they moved to Camden after Tom retired from the Navy. In addition, she worked as a private caregiver in the late 1970s, 1980s and 1990s for the Quantrell, Lamb, Laite and Jackson families.

Devoted to her family, Carol made every effort to attend all her children's and grandchildren's sport-related activities, graduations, plays, concerts and extracurricular activities in and out of state. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to visit her family and friends. Together they attended numerous Navy reunions all across the country. Carol and her grandchildren created holiday parties with a theme, and looked forward to game nights with the family.

Carol was a communicant of Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, where she was an active member of the Women's Club. Carol's special gift was her wonderful care and dedication to helping and caring for others.
