WALDOBORO — Carleton Sylvester “Junior” Simmons Jr. passed away April 6, 2016, in Bangor. He was born Sept. 20, 1939, in Washington to Carleton and Grace (Forrest) Simmons Sr.

Junior grew up in Newcastle and attended local schools. He started working at a young age and his jobs included: Brown's Farm, the electric company, Bath Iron Works, Knowles Industrial, as a worm digger, lobsterman, clam digger, seaweed collector and fish net builder, and filling bait bags for local fisherman. He was forced to retire in 2007 due to his declining health.

Junior loved being outside. He had a garden every year and especially loved his cucumbers. He also enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing. He loved animals, especially his papillon, Molly, and his bird, Shadow. He fed the birds and snakes in his garden and they would come when he called.

Junior will be desperately missed by his loving wife of 30 years, Marge, and his entire family.

He was predeceased by his parents; and his granddaughter, Crystalle Rose Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Simmons of Waldoboro; his son, Carleton "Johnny" Simmons and his wife, Stephanie, of Waldoboro; his daughter, Kathy Seigars of Alna; his sons, Dana, Jerry and Nathan; his step-daughters, Deborah Furlong and her husband, Brian, of Tennessee, Rose Marie Prior and her husband, Robert, of Damariscotta, and Margaret Eustis and her husband, Mark, of Auburn; his sisters, Edith Winchenbach of Waldoboro, Dorothy Kavanaugh of New York, and Mary Lou Rolerson and her husband, Dana, of Waldoboro; his brother, Bert Simmons and his wife, Jane, of Bremen; his grandchildren, Trisha, Nicholas, Steven, Joshua, Miranda, Larry, Michele, Lisa, DJ and Andrew; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of Junior's life will be held on Saturday, April 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hall's Funeral Home, 949 Main St. in Waldoboro.
