CAMDEN — Camden's newest downtown gathering spot, Sea Dog Brewing Company, is offering an added benefit to all Windjammer Festival volunteers this Labor Day weekend.

Sea Dog Brewing, which used to be located in the Knox Mill years ago and has returned and reopened this summer at the former site of Cappy's Chowder House, has invited all festival volunteers and staff to a post-event reception. In past years, festival volunteers have earned a Windjammer Festival signature T-shirt, which will still be part of the thank-you package along with the Sept. 4 party at Sea Dog. As an in-kind sponsorship of the Festival, the Sea Dog is providing food for all volunteers along with non-alcoholic beverages.

Festival chair Roger Ackley, along with the event's sponsorship manager, Sandra Sawyer, recently announced the addition of the volunteer event.

"This new feature may provide further incentive to become part of the team that puts on this important event," said Ackley. "We're very grateful for the sponsorship offered by the Sea Dog and our other generous business sponsors. We look forward to greeting this year's volunteer crew assembled as opening day approaches."

Tasks for volunteers include greeting visitors, assisting with disseminating information, selling festival items and lending a hand at specific signature events and activities. Prospective volunteers can look over the schedule on the festival website to see how they might like to participate. The volunteer signup form is also on the site at camdenwindjammerfestival.org/volunteer. Further information can be found by emailing Camden's Community Development office at karen@camdenmaine.gov.

The three-day Windjammer Festival celebrates Camden's working waterfront and long-standing maritime traditions.
