Camden school board candidates’ forum tonight, May 30

    Camden is hosting a candidates’ forum this evening for Camden citizens hoping to sit on the SAD 28 and Five Town CSD school boards. The forum begins at  6:30 p.m. in the Washington Street Meeting Room, Camden Town Office. The forums and hearings will be broadcast on Time-Warner Channel 22 and live-streamed (Click here)

    Candidates for two 3-year terms are:

    Matthew Dailey 
    Elizabeth Noble

     


    Camden is hosting four public forums and public hearings at the Town Office prior to the June Town Meeting and the public is encouraged to attend and learn more about what is on the town warrant and ballot. All the forums and hearings will be broadcast on Time-Warner Channel 22 and live-streamed (Click here)

    May 18: Planning Board, Zoning Warrant Articles

    The forum begins at  6 p.m. in the Washington Street Meeting Room, Camden Town Office

    The first forum on May 18 will address:

    1) Ballot Article 3: “Shall the Town vote to adopt the proposed 2017 Comprehensive Plan?

    2) Warrant Article 5: “Shall the town vote to approve and adopt a draft development agreement dated March 13, 2017 by and between the Town of Camden and Cynthia L. Reed regarding the restoration of the American Boathouse?”

    May 23: The Town of Camden is hosting a Select Board candidates’ forum this evening, beginning at 6:30 p.m.  in the Washington Street Meeting Room, Camden Town Office. The forums and hearings will be broadcast on Time-Warner Channel 22 and live-streamed (Click here)

    Select Board candidates are vying for two seats:

    Two 3-year terms, expiring June 2020. The candidates for that seat are:
    Robert Falciani
    Alison McKellar
    Christian Wincklhofer
    Don White (incumbent)

    One 1-year term (to complete the term of Leonard Lookner, who passed away in February), expiring June 2018:  
    Steve Beveridge
    Jenna Lookner

    The forum will entertain questions from the media and public.

    3) Warrant Article 6: “In the event that the immediately preceding Article 5 is approved and adopted by the voters, shall the Town vote to amend the Camden Zoning Ordinance, Article VIII Harbor Business District: Amend Section 12E(6) by adding an additional subparagraph (c) as follows?

    ”c. Nothwithstanding the provisions of subparagraph a. above, residential used shall be permitted at street level in structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places if they were listed on the Register on June 13, 2017, the date of the creation of this sub-section c.”


    May 22, School Administrative District 28 Public Hearing on proposed new middle school

    Monday, May 22, at 7 p.m., Washington Street Meeting Room, Camden Town Office

    SAD 28 Superintendent Maria Libby and the SAD 28 School Board will hold a public hearing in the Washington Street Conference Room to explain the bond issue for the proposed new Middle School.
