Mon, 09/01/2014 - 6:00pm

The high school golf season began just before the start of the long weekend and saw a few local clubs hit the greens. Belfast Area, Camden Hills Regional, Oceanside, Medomak Valley and Mount View High Schools were the local teams teeing off just before the long weekend.

All matches were played Aug. 29, except the Waterville-Mt. View match played Aug. 28.

At the Samoset in Rockport, the Camden Hills Windjammers and Belfast Lions squared off. The Windjammers walked away with a win and stroke total of 151, compared to the Lion’s 199 total.

Meanwhile, at the Rockland Golf Club, the Oceanside Mariners and Medomak Valley Panthers were hard at work — but not against each other. The Mariners battled Lawrence High School, while the Panthers challenged Maine Central Institute.

In the end, the Mariners secured a win while tallying up a score of 174, while Lawrence racked up a score of 205. On the flip side, the Panthers chalked up a team-stroke total of 215, while MCI had 169, therefore, winning the match.

In Waterville, Aug. 28, Waterville topped Mt. View with a score of 212 to Mt. View’s 243.

Individual results were not available.

The five local clubs all have upcoming matches on Tuesday, Sept. 2. Oceanside will travel to Cony, while Camden Hills will travel to Maine Central Insitute. Mt. View will host Medomak Valley and Belfast will host Waterville.
