The Camden Hills ice hockey team keeps rolling with another pair of wins, one on the road and another at home.

Camden goes to 12-2 with the last two wins. On Monday, Feb. 1 they traveled to Gorham for a game at the University of Southern Maine Ice Arena and gaining a 8-3 victory. Wednesday, Feb. 3 they were home against Old Town/Orono who they defeated 4-2. The Windjammers have moved up to No. 2 in the Maine Principals' Association Heal Point standings for Class B North. Waterville at 13-1-1 sits in first place.

The Windjammers have four games left with three of them at home. Next up is Saturday, Feb. 6 when Presque Isle travels down to Rockport for a matchup at Midcoast Recreation Center at 6 p.m.

Wednesday's Game
Camden Hills 4, Old Town/Orono 2 ... At Rockport, The Windjammers started a little slow as Old Town/Orono scored the first goal, but Camden tallied the next four before Old Town/Orono was able to crease the net again resulting in the 4-2 win.

The Coyotes scored at 5:36 in the first period with a goal from Jacob Dubay assisted by Lucas Shorette on a wrist shot from the blue line.

A mere 18 seconds later Camden tied the score with the first goal of four in a row. Chase Matteo at 5:18 put a shot into the net from the low slow with assists from Dan Lydon and Kieran Lydon.

With the score tied 1-1 the second period saw the Windjammers get two more goals to take a 3-1 lead. At 6:33 Jonah Cameron scored on a wrist shot from the high slot with an assist from Nick Tassoni. The second goal of the period came at 2:54 from Will Davee with a wrap around shot from the top of the low slot. He was assisted by Matt Prescott.

"The line of Gallant, Matteo, and Lydon gave our team a much needed spark tonight." said Camden Hills coach Karl Enroth.

Camden's final goal came at 8:24 of the third period to take a 4-1 lead from a player on an unassisted goal. Gallant applied hard forechecking pressure on a Coyotes defenseman which creates a turnover with the puck deflecting off a player’s stick, off the left side post, into the net past Old Town/Orono goalie Chase Albert.

The Coyotes scored the final goal of the game at 6:45 on a short-handed goal. Chris Hoxie picked up a loose puck and skated into the Camden Hills zone and sent a snap shot from the high slot that beat Windjammer goalie Jet Magri through the five hole.

"We started slow tonight and despite having an advantage in shots we were a bit sloppy in all phases of the game during the first period," said Enroth. "The players picked it up in the second period playing with more determination as we needed to do that because Old Town/Orono came to play tonight"

Magri had 15 saves on 17 shots for the win, while Old Town Orono's Chase Albert had 25 saves on 29 shots for the Coyotes. Camden had four minor penalties for eight minutes in the penalty box while the Coyotes had five minors for 10 minutes. Camden had four power play opportunities and Old Town/Orono three with neither scoring on those advantages.

Monday's Game
Camden Hills 8, Gorham 3 ... At Gorham, The Windjammers traveled Monday to make up a postponed game from Jan. 16 due to a snowstorm.

Camden took a 2-0 lead in the first period. All three second period goals came in the first minute with Gorham getting the first two tying the score before the Windjammers got one more goal to take a 3-2 lead into the third period. Gorham tied the game 3-3 at 12:55 which must have been a signal to the Windjammers it was time to play hockey. And play they did as they rattled off five consecutive goals to take the 8-3 win.

"This game was a lot closer than the final score indicates," said Camden Hills coach Karl Enroth. "For most the game the Gorham goalie Noah Bird was playing well and they have some dangerous skilled players in [Carl] Bear and [Carter] Landry that had the potential to score any time they were on the ice. We responded well when Gorham provided push back and our team depth was a key factor as the game played out especially toward the end"

Scoring for Camden Hills were, Will Davee, Jonah Cameron, Kieran Lydon (2), Nick Tassoni, James Orne (2), and Cam Christie. Assists came from a player, Chase Matteo (2), Katherine Orne, Cameron, and Lydon.

"I thought our team adjusted well to the Olympic size ice surface at the USM Ice Arena," said Enroth. "We did not have the practice time to prepare for the larger ice and it can present some problems if your not used to playing on that size ice all the time. We made a few pregame adjustments for the larger ice surface from how we normally try to do things on normal ice and the players executed it."

Zach Hand was in goal for the Windjammers and had 13 saves on 16 shots for the win. Noah Bird was in goal for Gorham and he had 33 saves on 41 shots faced.

Camden Hills had six minor penalties leading to 12 minutes in the box while Gorham had seven minors for 14 penalty minutes. Camden Hills was 1-of-4 in power play opportunities.
