Camden Garden Club elves craft seasonal magic

A week before Thanksgiving the American Legion Hall in Camden was a sight to behold.  Enthusiastic Camden Garden Club members and friends, surrounded by tall stacks of fragrant balsam wreaths, a multitude of velvety bows, and yards and yards of twinkling white lights, were on a mission: To bring the beauty and joy of the holiday season to downtown Camden.

One group tested the light strings, another wired them into perfect circles, then a third attached the circles of light to the fresh greenery before passing them on to the finishers who positioned and secured the crimson bows.

When the job was done the decorated wreaths were collected by the Camden Public Works Department and hung on the lampposts on Elm and Main and Bay View Streets and Atlantic Avenue for all to enjoy.
