UPDATE: To reopen Wednesday, June 28

Busted water line closes Rockport Public Library through weekend

Fri, 06/23/2017 - 3:45pm

ROCKPORT — The bad news was that a water line burst behind a toilet, spilling fresh water throughout the bathroom at the Rockport Public Library on Route 1 in Rockport between closing time June 21 and 8 a.m. Thursday morning, June 22.

The good news is that it was not a sewage line, and neither books nor computers were damaged.

The library, however, remained closed through Friday and the weekend. The town reported June 23 that the library will reopen on Wednesday, June 28.

Fans and dehumidifiers are working to dry out the premises.

“Don't worry if you have books due,” said the library, Thursday afternoon. “We won't be fining anyone for late books during this closure. We do ask if you have books to return please hold on to them until we reopen.

“We are sorry for the inconvenience and are working hard to reopen as soon as we can.”
