The Busline League basketball season for middle school student-athletes continued Wednesday, Nov. 11 and included some contests that kept fans on the edge of their seats. 

Following are reported results to the Pilot.

Girls Basketball:

Oceanside White 7th 36, Oceanside Blue 7th 34

Scorers for Oceanside White were Hannah Benner with 12 points, Chloe Simmons with 13, Julia Bartlett with four, Lindsey Brooks with five and Karizma Chickering with two. 

Lincolnville 34, Islesboro 22

At Lincolnville, the Lynx were led by Izzy Lang with a team-high 12 points. Kristina Kelly had eight points.

Lincolnville led, 14-10, at the half, as Islesboro (1-1) — which has just seven players, including two fifth graders — spent a majority of the game without small forward Rylee Sienkiewicz, its second-leading scorer, who was ill.

Islesboro's eighth-grade center Emily Lau had a game-high 14 points. Sienkiewicz had six and seventh-grade point guard Ava Schlottman just two, but had eight assists and played all 32 minutes, as did Lau.

Lau had a game-high 13 rebounds.

Oceanside Blue 8th 39, Oceanside White 8th 37

Boys Basketball:

Camden-Rockport 8th 48, Boothbay 8th 37

The Camden-Rockport Middle School 8th grade boys' basketball team captured its first win of the season beating Boothbay 48-37 Wednesday night in Camden.

The Schooners jumped out to an early 10-0 lead before the visitors rallied back to cut the deficit to 12-5 at the end of the first quarter. Good team basketball on both ends helped the Schooners surge to a 28-13 halftime lead.

The two teams played an even second half for the 48-37 result.

Leading scorers for the Schooners were Kerry Sabanty and Jack Hanson with 14 points apiece and Michael McGeady (13 points). Also scoring for the Schooners were Charlie O'Brien (3 points), Spencer Johndro and Sam Hebert (2 points).

Boothbay was lead by Stevie Remy (14 points) and Mitchell Andrews (6 points).

The Schooners will play their next game on Monday, December 1st at Lincolnville.

Islesboro 54, Lincolnville 6th/7th 39

At Lincolnville, the Eagles improved to 3-0 and were led by eighth-grade swingman Brett Start with a game-high 18 points.

Meanwhile, seventh-grader Jonathan Runnion-Bareford had 14 points for the second straight game.

Starting point guard Chase Sanders had a career-high 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting, all from the perimeter. Eighth-grade center Adin Randlett had eight points and 10 rebounds, both career highs.

Islesboro previously lost to Lincolnville, the defending BLL champion, in last year's semifinals.

Guard Sam Moody led the Lynx with 10 points. Sam Luft, Simon Polk and Ivan Young had six points apiece for Lincolnville.

Islesboro hosts Searsport A at 3:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21.

Oceanside White 7th 57, Oceanside Blue 7th 35

Scorers for Oceanside Blue included Karl Ilvonen (15 points), Chris Mathieson (12 points), Casey Campbell (four points), Carter Fogarty and Caleb Powell (two points each). 

Scorers for Oceanside White included Hunter Hoppe (14 points), Aaron Benner (nine points), Cameron Kingsbury and Carson Murphy (six each), Drew Minery, Jake Paulsen and Jonah Carlson (four each) and Hunter Yattaw, Nick Jones, Ben Poland and Nick Banda (two each).

Medomak 43, Great Salt Bay 10

The Medomak 8th grade boys opened up its season with a victory over Great Salt Bay Wednesday, Nov. 20.  

The Riverhawks jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in its cruise to a 43-10 win.

Leading the scoring for Medomak were Nathan Emerson with 11 points, Alex Clevette (seven), Alec Coughlin and Greyson Clark (five each). 

Medomak’s next game is Friday at home versus Boothbay.

Oceanside White 8th 64, Lincolnville 8th 58

The Lincolnville Lynx led by a point with about 90 seconds left, but couldn't hold on as a talented Oceanside White squad went on to win 64-58.

For the Lynx, Ionut Lodge had 22 points, Michael Kremin 18 points, Trey Gilson eight points, Gabe Kissh three points, Zach Markowitz three points, Dawson Allen two points and Noah Lang two points.

For Oceanside White, Cooper Wirkala had 13 points, Jack Lombardo 11 points, Amos Anderson nine points, Trevor Reed eight points, Isaiah Millay, Jacob Curtis and Jaden Martin six points each, Dustin Cote and Alex O'Brien three points each.
