Busline League Basketball Nov. 17 Scoreboard

For those in the small school divisions, the 2014 basketball season continued Monday, Nov. 17 while those in the large school divisions began the campaign. 

Following are reported results to the Pilot.

Small School Division Boys

Islesboro 48, Searsport B 25

At Islesboro, the Eagles (2-0) were led by seventh-grade forward Jonathan Runnion-Bareford with 14 points, 14 rebounds (eight offensive) and four steals. Eighth-grade swingman Brett Start had 12 points, six steals and five rebounds in less than a half of play.

Starting point guard Chase Sanders and fifth-grade guard Miti Yeatts both had seven points.

Yeatts had five rebounds and four steals.

Seven of nine Eagles scored in their home opener and will play at defending champion Lincolnville at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19 in a rematch of last year's league semifinal.

Searsport B was led by Gabe Kneeland (8 points) and Brandon Littlefield (7 points).

Large School Division Boys

Oceanside White 8th 62, Camden-Rockport 8th 16

Cooper Wirkala posted 17 points for the Mariners, while Jack Lombardo added 14, Jacob Curtis and Amos Anderson each had eight. Zach Cody had four points, and Trevor Reed, Alex Fogarty, Zach Hersey, Dustin Cote and Isiah Millay each had two.

Oceanside White 7th 51, Camden-Rockport 7th 47

Large School Division Girls

Oceanside Blue 8th 42, Medomak 8th 23

At the quarter breaks in Waldoboro, Oceanside lead 12-4, 26-8 and 34-14.

Leading scorers for Oceanside were Kallie Grover and Cassidy Robinson with 14 points each, Annaleise Poisson, Hope Butler and Rachel Joyce four points each and Meghan Keizer with two.

Oceanside was 2-for-2 from the foul line and Medomak was 9-for-14.

Scoring for Medomak were L. Simmons (5 points), A. Schaeffer (8 points), H. Watmagh (6 points), M. White (3 points) and T. Willis (1 point). First names were not available. 

“[The] team defense was vital in [our] win with a strong defensive showing by Alexis Rytky, Myla Fernald and Philomena Marsh,” according to head coach Dan McNichol. 

Oceanside White 8th 52, Camden-Rockport 8th 26 

The Oceanside White eighth graders opened the 2014 campaign with a very impressive, and large, victory over Camden-Rockport squad.

Leading the way for the Mariners were Hannah Moholland (10 points, 5 rebounds) and Nicole Paulsen (8 points, 2 rebounds). Other contributors included Kaycee Forster (6 points, 4 rebounds), Gabby Straka (7 points, 4 rebounds), Abby Veilleux (4 points, 3 rebounds), Brooke Post (5 points, 2 rebounds), Morgan Heal (6 points, 7 rebounds), Morgan Lindsey (4 points, 4 rebounds) and Chloe Jones (2 points, 6 rebounds).

For the Schooners, Kassie Krul racked up 21 points and 14 rebounds, while Lauren Rothwed (2 points, 2 rebounds), Maddie Holt (2 points), Ellie B. (2 rebounds) and Rebecca Cox (3 rebounds) also contributed.

The Schooners lead 8-6 at the end of the first quarter, but the Mariners lead 19-13 at halftime and 42-20 at the end of the third.

Camden-Rockport 7th 41, Oceanside White 33
