Busline Basketball wraps up games; takes off for Holidays

The Busline League basketball season, for middle school-aged student-athletes, has completed its weekly slate of contests and has now taken off for the Holiday season. 

Following are reported results from contests ranging from Tuesday, Dec. 16 to Saturday, Dec. 20.

Tuesday, Dec. 16

Boys Basketball: Islesboro 48, Lincolnville 8th 33

At Islesboro, eighth-grade swingman Brett Start had a game-high 20 points in three quarters and seventh-grade forward Jonathan Runnion-Bareford 18 as the Eagles won for the ninth time in 10 games.

Runnion-Bareford had nine steals, eight rebounds and three assists. Start had 12 rebounds and four steals.

Seventh-grade guard Patrick Kehoe had a career-high 11 rebounds.

Sam Moody and Simon Polk both had nine points to lead Lincolnville.

Girls Basketball: Lincolnville 43, Islesboro 27

At Islesboro, Lincolnville's Kristina Kelly opened the Lynx scoring with a 3-pointer and finished with 19 points. Izzy Lang had 10.

Eighth-grade center Emily Lau had 18 points for Islesboro. Lau had nine rebounds, eight steals and five blocked shots.

Boys Basketball: Appleton 63, Hope 49

Scoring for Hope were Henry Cooper (18 points), Kieran McGrath (16), Josh Pearse (10), Adam Thorndike, Rylee Rapp and Addison Barnhill (two each) and Nick Turnbull (one). 

Scoring for Appleton were Cooper Twitchell (32 points), Ethan Ford (14), Cody Pascal (six), Dakota Deane and Joby Payrd (four each) and Colby Strout (two). 

Wednesday, Dec. 17

Girls Basketball: Camden-Rockport 7th 32, Oceanside Blue 7th 18

The Schooners lead 11-2, 18-5 and 24-11 at the respective quarter breaks. 

Scoring for the Schooners were Audrey Bowman (15), Kaylyn Krul (six), Logan Craney (four), Grace O’Connell (three) and Kiresten Whitney and Danni Cayoutte (two each).

The Schooners were 4-of-11 (36 percent) from the free throw line. 

Scoring for Oceanside Blue were Molly Gould (five), Mia Blumenthol (four), Audrey Young (three) and Nicole Ladd, Julie Spraxberry and Maggie Tinker-Wadsworth (two each). 

The Mariners were 2-of-6 (33 percent) from the free throw line.

Boys Basketball: Oceanside White 8th 63, Lincolnville 8th 62

Jack Lombardo from Oceanside hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to beat the Lincolnville eighth grade squad 63-62. 

Lincolnville scorers included Ionut Lodge (19 points), Trey Gilson and Michael Kremin (12 each), Zach Markowitz (11), Noah Lang (six) and Dawson Allen (two). 

Oceanside scorers included Jack Lombardo (15 points), Cooper Wirkala (13), Amos Anderson (nine), Trevor Reed (seven), J. Curtis and I. Millay (six each), D. Cote (three) and J. Martin (two).

Girls Basketball: Oceanside Blue 8th 63, Camden-Rockport 8th 30

Oceanside lead at the breaks 15-9, 30-21 and 51-23.

Scoring for the Mariners were Hope Butler (14 points), Kassidy Robinson (12), Kallie Grover (10), Chloe Fournier (nine), Raechel Joyce (six), Megan Keizer and Annaliese Poisson (four each) and Alexis Rytky and Gabrille Vitale (two each). 

Scoring for the Schooners were Kassie Krul (18 points), Rebecca Cox (four), Madison Holt and Capri Buck (three each), Lauren Rothwell and K. Emery (one each).

“An all-around team effort was crucial to the win for [Oceanside],” said Mariners head coach Dan McNichol. “The girls came out in the 3rd period and put the game away with excellent defensive play, holding [Camden-Rockport] to 2 points in the period.”

Thursday, Dec. 18

Boys Basketball: Lincolnville 8th 73, Great Salt Bay 10

Lincolnville scorers included Ionut Lodge (22 points), Noah Lang (14), Michael Kremin (11), Trey Gilson (10), Dawson Allen and Zach Markowitz (six each) and Carson Whitney (four).

Scoring for Great Salt Bay were Q. Perry (four points), C. Clark, J. Schroeder and E. Harvey (two each). First names were not available. 

Boys Basketball: Hope 33, Searsport B 19

Scoring for Hope were Henry Cooper (11 points), Issac Luce (eight), Shea Sewall, Addison Barnhill and Kieran McGrath (two each).

Scoring for Searsport B were B. Littlefield (seven), G. Poulin (six), G. Kneeland (four) and S. Perkins (two). First names were not available. 

Friday, Dec. 19

Girls Basketball: Oceanside White 8th 59, Troy Howard 8th 12

At the quarter breaks, the Mariners lead 14-0, 24-4 and 34-4 respectively. 

Scoring for Troy Howard were Karagan Stone and Maya Cummingham (four each) and Cassidy Clark and Shera Hilt (two each). 

Scoring for Oceanside White were Morgan Heal (13 points), Hannah Moholland (12), Gabby Straka (nine), Nicole Paulsen (seven), Chloe Jones (six), Laura Boutin and Brooke Post (four each) and Sara Dorr and Morgan Lindsey (two each). 

Boys Basketball: Vinalhaven 61, Hope 37

For Vinalhaven, Keaton Lear had 24 points and Joe Hopkins had 24 points.

For Hope, Henry Cooper had 19 points and Josh Pearse had 13 points.

Saturday, Dec. 20

Girls Basketball: Machias 68, Islesboro 33

At Islesboro, Tate Dolley scored 25 points, while going 13 of 14 from the free throw line, and teammate Angjeana Lyons had 21 for Machias, which jumped to a 24-8 first-quarter lead.

Senior Krystal Randlett had 11 points to lead Islesboro (3-2). Callie Cook and Brandy Sienkiewicz had nine points apiece.

Boys Basketball: Machias 52, Islesboro 45

At Islesboro, Machias held off a fourth-quarter rally behind Logan Wood's game-high 17 points. Jordan Grant and James Mersereau had 10 apiece.

Forrest Boucher scored 16 points to lead Islesboro (3-2). Jake Pelligrino scored 13 points and Connor Grindle 12.

Boys Basketball: Vinalhaven 62, Hope 37

For Vinalhaven, Joe Hopkins had 18, Keaton Lear had 16, and Alec Radley had 10 points.

For Hope, Josh Pearse had 11 points, Henry Cooper and Issac Luce had seven each.
