Maine Women’s Fund hires two new staff members

PORTLAND — The Maine Women's Fund, the only Maine foundation focused exclusively on advancing women's and girl's economic security, announces the hiring of two staff members.

Kelly Fitzpatrick Martin joined the staff in 2014 as Operations Manager. A native of Houlton, Kelly attended Bates College where she obtained a B.S. in biology. After several years in the medical field at Massachusetts General Hospital, she returned to Maine.

In 2006 she joined the staff of the Maine Cancer Foundation in an administrative support role, then as office manager. Most recently she’s worked as events manager, where she managed the "Tri for a Cure," an annual $1.4M fundraising event with 1,400 participants and 500 volunteers.

Fitzpatrick Martin has advanced skills in volunteer coordination, communications, data-base management and reporting, and a diverse array of nonprofit operations. She lives in South Portland with her husband, son, and two daughters. She works full-time out of the Fund's Falmouth office.

Anne Saer Driscoll joined the staff in 2014 as finance and human resources manager. With a BBA in accounting from the University of Texas and a B.A. from Tulane University in Art History, Saer Driscoll has worked as an auditor at Arthur Andersen in New Orleans, manager of budgets and contracts at Volunteers of America Greater New York, controller for the New York Host Committee of the Democratic National Committee's Convention in 1992, and as chief financial officer at the League of Conservation Voters as well as Education Voters of America in Washington, DC.

As an experienced accounting professional, she has managed complex nonprofit budgetary and human resource operations. She relocated with her husband, a Bowdoin alumnus, to York Harbor several years ago, and has served as treasurer and currently a board member of the Museums of Old York and on the Ladies Committee of York Hospital. She is also a licensed real estate agent. She works part-time for the Fund at the Falmouth office.

'Pirate Rendezvous' seeking nonprofit to benefit

DAMARISCOTTA — The Damariscotta River Pirate Rendezvous is seeking a local nonprofit to benefit, following the incorporation of Lincoln County Family Holiday Wishes with the respected national program, Toys for Tots.

"While we continue to support the efforts of Toys for Tots, we have traditionally partnered with a locally based nonprofit," said Greg Latimer, event director of the Damariscotta River Pirate Rendezvous, in a news release.

Lincoln County Family Holiday Wishes has been the event beneficiary since the Mystic Pirates o' the Damariscotta had their first Twin Villages rendezvous in 2008.

"We're looking to find a group that's interested in forming a permanent partnership with the Pirate Rendezvous," said Latimer. "We're not necessarily looking for a nonprofit to provide a whole bunch of time and volunteers, just one or two individuals who can devote some time organizationally and operationally."

According to Latimer, the Pirate Rendezvous has always produced a profit that was donated primarily to Family Holiday Wishes and included other community efforts as well. "We feel that's an important part of both our tradition and purpose," Latimer said.

Representatives from any local nonprofit, large or small, are invited to contact Latimer for more details by telephone at 207-380-9912.

The Damariscotta River Pirate Rendezvous is scheduled for Saturday, June 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with pirates attacking at high noon.
