Book discussion on food waste
BELFAST – If you are concerned about reducing the kitchen waste you produce and want to save money, there will be a book discussion on The Waste Free Kitchen Handbook: a guide to eating well and saving money by wasting less food.
The discussion, sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Church of Belfast, will meet on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. at the Common House of the Eco-Village. Snow date is March 2. The public is welcome to join.
The discussion will focus on this practical and information-packed book by Dana Gunders, staff scientist at the Natural Resources Defense Council. Gunders includes suggestions, checklists, recipes and even your own kitchen waste audit.
By showing how to shop smarter, portion more accurately, and simply use a refrigerator properly, Gunders gives the simple tools to produce less waste and eat more consciously.
Copies of the book may be borrowed through inter-library loan from public libraries.
