WALDOBORO — A young man who had been riding his bike in Waldoboro was pronounced dead at the scene Saturday night, Nov. 22.

According to Police Chief William Labombarde, at approximately 8:34 p.m. Waldoboro police and a Waldoboro ambulance crew responded to Feylers Corner Road, where they found Jessie Hayden. He had been struck by a 1999 GMC Yukon, police reported.

“The complainant, Jeffrey Moran, of Washington, reported that he had found a bike in the middle of the roadway and then saw a male lying in the ditch,” said Labombarde, in a news release.

Waldoboro Police arrived and determined that Moran, 27, had allegedly hit Jesse Hayden with his vehicle, Lobombarde said.

Hayden, 31, of Waldoboro, was hit while riding his bike on the road, police said.

Moran was arrested for criminal operating under the influence, Class B, and transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset. His bail was set at $10,000.

The case remains under investigation, Labombarde said.
