Beverly A. (Libby) Stubbs 81, of Belfast, formerly of Brooks and Monroe, died from complications of a stroke on October 23.

Born on February 6, 1936 to Roscoe and Mildred Libby, Bev grew up and attended schools in Brooks. Upon graduating from high school she joined her father in operating the Libby General Store. In 1967 Bev married J. David Stubbs and together they started a new business, Stubbs Ceramics. The business specialized in the design and production of blueberry themed dinnerware that was sold at LL Bean and other stores throughout Maine.

Bev and Dave shared 26 wonderful years of marriage before Dave's death in 1993. Bev continued to live alone in her beloved log cabin in Monroe until health problems forced her to move into a nursing home. In recent years Bev's health declined significantly but she was a strong-willed woman and fought back as hard as she could when many would have given up.

Bev's interests included gardening, painting and making crafts. Bev was predeceased by her parents, a brother, Richard Libby, and a sister, Shirley Mulcahey. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Daniel Mulcahey of Brooks and several nieces and nephews. At her request there will be no funeral service.

Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. October 31st at Rose Cemetery, Brooks. Those who wish may make contributions in Beverly's memory to Brooks Congregational Church. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.ripostafh.com.
