The nonprofit Belfast Garden Club asks that as you get out in your gardens you think of its upcoming Green Thumb Plant Sale on Saturday, May 20, from 9 a.m. to noon at Belfast Boathouse.

As you stroll about to see what winter hath wrought and what spring will bring, keep in mind that the club welcomes divided perennials, as well as seedlings and other plants. Maybe now's the time to re-home that garden geegaw or that read-already plant book.

Donations help keep Belfast beautiful, as the club uses proceeds to maintain 12 public gardens.

Proceeds also help the club award two annual scholarships of $1,000 each to Waldo County students studying earth-friendly fields. Those are just some of their endeavors undertaken to promote people's love of gardening and to protect native flora and fauna.

If you can donate, please give sale coordinator Bonnie Irwin a call at 703-9057 or email her at bonnie.m.irwin@gmail.com. Learn more about the club at BelfastGardenClub.org.
