Belfast Free Library children: Step into the labyrinth

Wed, 05/03/2017 - 8:00pm

Learn about Labyrinths through time and design your own labyrinth, than head outdoors to Belfast Common to visit the labyrinth constructed last year by Friends of Belfast Parks. Guide and Belfast resident Duncan Newcomer is a Labyrinth Facilitator trained at the Chartres Cathedral in France by the international group Veriditas.

The Labyrinth is an ancient design pattern found in gardens, art and architecture in many parts of the world:
• Ancient Mediterranean lands and Ancient rock wall carvings in the American Southwest
• Turf and garden labyrinths of Britain and Medieval cathedral labyrinths of Europe
• Thousands of rock labyrinths in Scandinavia

This is an all ages program. Participants ages 8 and up are invited to walk to the labyrinth with library staff with parental permission. Permission forms available at www.belfastlibrary.com/kids or on the children’s floor.

Younger children are welcome to participate with a parent or guardian.
