BELFAST — In 2006, only Belfast cable subscribers could watch Belfast Community TV. Now station technology offers more viewer options, and can cover an area wide enough to reach all of Waldo County. Those non-Belfast residents who are featured in, or take part in, programming can now be BCTV-2 viewers also.

Beyond Belfast and Waldo County, some programs, such as, Tai Chi through the Seasons, Take it to the Auction, and The Children's Corner are distributed to community television stations nationwide.

BCTV-2 has become available to viewers on the Internet through belfastcommunitytv.org. Just click on "watch Belfast community TV on-demand" to see many local programs.

Also, by clicking on the URL, shows can be posted to social media sites and shared with family and friends anywhere.

Belfast Community TV’s latest "live stream" capability is the station's Roku channel, which also can be accessed through the stations website.

"In recent years, on-demand viewing and live streaming have grown in popularity while cable subscriptions and traditional TV viewing have declined," said station manager Ned Lightner, in a news release. “BCTV-2 strives to stay current in viewing technology.”

"We are very proud of our little community TV station," said Lightner.

With a $12,000 annual budget, Belfast Community TV's contest entry won "overall excellence in community programming for stations with an annual budget of a $100,000 or less" awarded by the "Alliance for Community Media Northeast Video" Festival in 2013.

BCTV-2 always welcomes programming ideas, comments, or suggestions.
