Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition invites all for hike

On Saturday, Dec. 16, the Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition's monthly adventure will be a hike of Meadow Brook/Hurds Pond Preserve in Swanville, a preserve of Coastal Mountains Land Trust. Join Cloe Chunn for a hike from the Bessey Tract on Rt. 141 to the Hauk-Fry Tract on Oak Hill Road.

The group will meet at 10 a.m. at the Swanville Transfer Station on Swan Lake Avenue (Rt. 141) in Swanville. Take warm layers, water, a bag lunch, hiking poles if you use them.The trek will be over three miles of rugged ground, through beautiful mixed woods, over two rock dams, with scenic views of Meadow Brook and Hurds Pond.

The Belfast Bay watershed consists of 4 watersheds: the Little River watershed, 17.2 sq. miles, the Passagassawakeag River watershed, 50.6 sq. miles, Wescot Stream watershed, 19.8 sq. miles, and the Goose River watershed, 21.2 sq. miles, for a total Belfast Bay watershed of 108.8 sq. miles.
